There is a lovely, homely feel at Cloch Cora here in Waterford. A real feeling of community. People in the independent units know those living in the assisted living house. They go for walks together or trips to the shops. Friendships have been made and everybody is very respectful of each other.

Our housing plays a key role in creating that atmosphere. Each home serves the people living there by providing a stable and accessible living environment. The houses are set up and structured in a way that supports privacy and accessibility, while also allowing access to the wider community, if and when individuals desire.

The houses are situated near to the hospital, shopping centres and bus routes into the city. They are all built to the highest standard and, as tenants of Anvers Housing, our residents know they are supported by a very well established and respected housing organisation.

Community is very important to us all at Cloch Cara, as it brings a sense of belonging.

Many people with an acquired brain injury can find themselves socially isolated. Our small community enables people to meet and support others in a similar situation.

When it comes to the part of the role I found most rewarding, I enjoyed the feeling at the end of the day when you know you have made a positive experience to someone else’s life.”
